Coron
Sometimes, we often travel at far away distance looking for the best places to go when in fact they are just around us. People travel overseas to have fun and enjoy but sometimes we realized that we have not even appreciated the beauty of our own country. Well, for one thing, we can't blame them since it is sometimes cheaper to travel abroad that to spend your holiday on a local destination. I for one, do not understand the reason behind it. I guess this is why we have the peak, off-peak and super peak season rates offered by hotels and resorts. If they would just offer the same reasonable rates offered by hotels and Resorts in other asian countries such as Vietnam,Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Macau, Hongkong etc. for the entire year, then I am quite certain that there will be no more peak and off-peak but just a continuous flow of patrons coming in and out of their establishment for the whole year round. First destination, Coron. Located in the Island of Palawan, which is a few minutes from Busuanga where the airport is located. The best thing about this place is that you don't get to spend that much mainly because you have the option of spending the night in the town proper rather than in a beach resort. At the same time, you also feast on all types of seafoods such as crabs, yellow fin tunas and all sorts of things at a bargain. Just proceed to the wet market and buy the fresh catch of the day and have it cooked for a reasonable cooking charge. By now, you probably want to burn all the food that you had for dinner so best way to do that is to take a tricycle or hire a van and proceed to maquinit hot spring which is open even during night time and enjoy the hot overflowing water while relaxing to the sound of the sea breeze and waves coming in. For a party of 5 or more, you can then hire a boat that will already prepare your lunch and snacks while island hopping. The boat ride will take you to the twin lagoon, siete pecados, malcapuya Island which has the best area to swim while taking your lunch at the beach, the twin peaks which is near the fish sanctuary where you feed the big fishes. A hike going to kayangan lake is all worthwhile when you reach your destination and taking a dip into the lagoon. Be sure to bring along some insect repellent on this hike and a set of mask and snorkle because you will definitely need it. By the way, if you happen to wake up early, make sure you climb and count the steps to Mt. Tapyas known for its Gigantic cross on top of the mountain for a breath taking scenery on top overlooking the entire island.
